Arunachal Govt.
Unlike other states of India, Arunachal Pradesh is a state which is
formed based on diverse culture and lifestyle. The state is not on the
basis of language. There are more than 20 tribal communities who have
their own language, culture and traditions etc. The state of Arunachal
Pradesh is governed by a Chief Minister and a council of other ministers
responsible to an elected unicameral legislature and by a Governor,
appointed by the president of India. The role of Governor is largely
ceremonial.
There are 60 seats in the state legislative assembly of which 59 are reserved for ST candidates and 1 for general. The state has 2 seats in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of Indian Parliament) and 1 seat in the Rajya Sabha (upper house).
The capital of the state is Itanagar and the seat of the High Court is located at Guwahati in Assam.
