Anjaw is a newly formed district of Arunachal Pradesh which was carved out from the northern part of erstwhile district of Lohit on 16th February 2004 with its headquarters at Hawai. The district came into existence due to the Arunachal Pradesh reorganization of districts Amendment Bill, 2003.
