East Siang is an administrative district of Arunachal Pradesh with its headquarters located at Pasighat. The district derives its name from the mighty Siang River.
The topography of the district is mountainous and is very difficult to access. The district is bounded by Upper Siang District in the North, Dhemaji District in the South, Dibang Valley District in the east and West Siang District in the West.
Pasighat town, the headquarter of the East Siang District,
is situated at an altitude of 155 metres above mean sea level and is
the oldest town in Arunachal Pradesh - established in 1911 A.D.

How to reach
Pasighat, the district
headquarter town is well connected by road. Visitors can reach Pasighat
by bus, private vehicles or taxies from Guwahati (capital of Assam),
Lakhimpur or Itanagar (Capital of Arunachal Pradesh). Alternatively, one
has to cross the river Brahmaputra from Dibrugarh by ferry to Oryamghat
that is situated at a distance of 32 km from Pasighat.
The nearest airports are at Dibrugarh and Guwahati. Helicopter services are available from Guwahati and Itanagar.
